Fly to Dublin for St. Patrick's Day the next year for less than $400

DEALS - 29-07-2022

Making vacation arrangements a few seasons in advance will help you save a lot of money.
Although you may be focused on summer vacation right now, it's a good idea to start planning your spring break for the next year.
There are certain deals you might want to take advantage of if Ireland has been on your bucket list.

Right now, round-trip tickets for travel in the first few months of 2023 are on sale.
Prices for flights to Ireland beginning in April start at slightly over $350 from a number of significant U.S. cities.

This might be a fantastic, economical way to take advantage of everything Dublin has to offer during its famous St. Patrick's Day celebrations or a starting point for exploring other lovely cities and breathtaking locations in Ireland, such the Cliffs of Moher.

Flights this fall are also worth looking into if you want to travel to Ireland sooner rather than later and next spring is too far off in your planning.
Depending on the itinerary, we did see some availability for about $400 between September and November, so you might be in luck.

This autumn and in the first few months of 2023, Scott's Cheap Flights was the first to announce these airfare discounts to Ireland.
The website provides memberships that start at $49 for economy deals and $199 for a premium membership that would notify you of exceptional savings on expensive tickets.

Consider making reservations for an autumn vacation or snagging a discount for next spring as you finalize the arrangements of your summer journey.
Don't let this opportunity pass you by because it's likely that the prices will have increased by December and January, when many people begin planning their spring vacations.

Deal fundamentals

Aer Lingus, TAP Air Portugal, and Play are airlines.

Dublin routes include those from Newark, Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.

Direct booking with the airlines or using Google Flights.

Travel dates: January through April have the most availability, with limited availability in September, October, and November.

Flight examples

The offers we took note of included round trip tickets in economy for about $400 to Dublin Airport (DUB).
Nearly all of the available routes for this particular deal at this price point were on international carriers, thus many of them have connections in another European countries, most likely Portugal or Iceland.

If spending a day (and a night) in Lisbon or Reykjavik is something you're interested in, play around with Google Flights because there's a good chance you could arrange something along those lines. However, we prioritized price and convenience when sharing these itineraries, which meant layovers of a few hours or less.

Some of the itineraries that drew our eye are listed below:

    • Aer Lingus offers a flight from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Dublin for $374.

    • For $358 on Play, fly from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Dublin.

    • For $387 on Play, you can fly from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) to Dublin.

    • TAP offers a $404 flight from Dulles International Airport (IAD) to Dublin.

    • TAP offers a $415 flight from O'Hare International Airport (ORD) to Dublin.

Let's begin by taking a look at one of the greatest prices we could find for this specific offer.
This entails using Iceland's newest low-cost airline, Play, on a round trip flight from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).
You will have a brief layover at Keflavik Airport (KEF) in Reykjavik on both the outward and return flights since that is where the airline is based.
You should always pay particular attention to the additional costs you'll pay on these airlines on top of the base rate ($358 in this case), which I covered in a recent story, but this could still be a fantastic option to go to Dublin and back for less money.

The fact that this itinerary is nonstop on Aer Lingus makes it one of the greatest possibilities for leaving the New York region from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), which was the best option.
This journey we highlighted serves as a reminder of the deal's main catch:
Although the majority of the sub-$400 availability we're talking about here is on winter and spring 2023 trips, if you dig hard enough you might discover a fantastic price this fall (or even late summer).
Your overnight Airbus A321neo flight for this journey would depart on the Wednesday following Labor Day.

I discovered a few flights under $400 out of Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport (BWI) for tourists visiting the Washington, D.C., but most of the availability will be out of Dulles International Airport (IAD).
This $404 round-trip on TAP is notable because, following the brief early-morning stop in Lisbon, you arrive in Dublin around midday on St. Patrick's Day, meaning you'll have plenty of time to celebrate.

If you're traveling from Chicago, you might also take a TAP flight.
I discovered a round-trip ticket to Lisbon for $415 from O'Hare International Airport (ORD), with the longest stop lasting just over three hours.

Enhance your purchase

You might want to use a credit card with good earnings across different airlines because the majority of these deals are on overseas carriers, so you won't earn as many points with a co branded card.
When you use the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card to pay for your vacation through Chase Ultimate Rewards, you'll earn 5 points for every $1 spent.
For flights booked directly with airlines or through American Express Travel, you will receive 5 Membership Rewards points with The Platinum Card® from American Express.
When you purchase flights through Capital One Travel, the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card will reward you with 5 miles for every $1 spent.

In conclusion

Even though a spring vacation may be the last thing from your thoughts right now, doing some early planning could save you money.
This could be a wonderful chance to secure a cheap fare if Ireland has been at the top of your holiday wish list.
