Nearly half of the cost of your cruise might be covered by this one Amex offer.

DEALS - 16-05-2023

Do you have in mind to reserve a Royal Caribbean cruise in the near future? You might want to use an American Express card for the transaction.

Recently, an offer for 20,000 additional Membership Rewards points has started to appear for some American Express members who spend $1,000 or more on a Royal Caribbean cruise.

There are a lot of Membership Rewards points in that amount. At our current rate of 2 cents per Membership Rewards point, the 20,000 bonus points would be equivalent to $400.

For example, if you use an American Express card to pay $1,000 for a Royal Caribbean vacation, you'll receive 40% of that amount back in Membership Rewards points.

Be aware that not all cardholders will receive this offer because it is targeted. Additionally, in order to redeem this specific Amex Offer, you must sign up for it.

The restriction that a card member can only sign up for the promotion with one American Express card is another restriction. Additionally, the promotion is only applicable to cruise reservations made using one of the following methods:

    • Online on RoyalCaribbean.com.

    • Using American Express Travel.

    • By calling 866-562-7625.

    • Through an agent where Royal Caribbean is listed as the merchant of record.

In addition, reservations made online can only be made on American websites.

Onboard purchases, online purchases of physical gift cards and e-gift cards, transfers to Royal Caribbean ships, and other expenses are not included in the $1,000 spending cap. Additionally excluded from the promotion are purchases made on cruises connected to MGM Resort International Joint Vacation sailings and Royal Wedding Packages.

Only the Royal Caribbean brand is eligible for the promotion; Celebrity Cruises and Silversea Cruises are not part of the Royal Caribbean Group.

The deal ends on July 31.

Additional new Amex cruise offers

The latest Royal Caribbean campaign is just one of many cruise-related deals that have recently surfaced for American Express customers.

The following additional offers were delivered to some American Express cardholders:

    • Get $250 back from Norwegian Cruise Line when you spend $1,000 or more. The promotion ends on July 24.

    • Every dollar you spend with river cruise company AmaWaterways that qualifies earns you 5 Membership Rewards points. A maximum of 50,000 points may be earned. The deal ends on August 4.

Here are a few examples of Amex cards where you can be eligible for these cruise offers:

    • The Platinum Card® from American Express.

    • The American Express Gold Card.

    • The Business Platinum Card® from American Express.

Check your American Express card account to see whether you qualify for one of the offers. If you do come upon one of the offers, it is best to add it quickly away because it can vanish. Capacity restrictions apply to some deals.

Another helpful hint is that only 100 Amex Offers are displayed at once. Consequently, if you're full, add deals to your card, and new ones can surface.

Also keep in mind that if you need to book a flight to or from your cruise port, Amex Travel will award you 5 points for every $1 spent on direct airline bookings (up to $500,000 in purchases per calendar year) and 5 points for every $1 spent on pre-paid hotel reservations made on Amex Travel with The Platinum Card from American Express.

If you don't already have an American Express card, you could think about applying. After you make $6,000 in purchases during your first six months of card membership, the Platinum Card from American Express will give you a welcome bonus of 80,000 Membership Rewards points.

Using the CardMatch tool, you might also be qualified for a targeted 125,000- or 150,000-point bonus offer (deals are subject to change at any time).
