Southeast Asia premium economy flight for as little as $1,200

DEALS - 10-08-2022

I'll be traveling to Southeast Asia later this year; it will be my first trip to the continent and my major trip of 2022. I'll be flying premium economy to get there and back.

I had to share a premium economy offer with reduced flights around the area because I am so thrilled about this vacation, and it is especially practical for travelers who are based in New York City.
With this offer, you can fly round-trip from the Big Apple to Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Malaysia for around $1,200.

For two of the itineraries, you can also find reasonably priced flights leaving from Los Angeles, as well as far less common flights from St. Louis, Dallas, and Houston.
This is a chance to significantly reduce the cost of a premium fare class, as premium economy flights on these trips often start at $2,000 per person.

Basics of deals

Examples of routes

As I mentioned, this offer primarily includes flights from the three airports in the New York area, but it also includes Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL), Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
Examples of round-trip flights you could reserve with this offer include the following:

    • Starting at $1,216, you can get a ride from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL).

    • Starting at $1,219, flights connect JFK and EWR with Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL).

    • Starting from $1,224 from JFK and EWR to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK).

    • Starting at $1,229, you can fly from EWR to Phuket International Airport (HKT).

    • Starting at $1,236 from LAX to CGK.

    • Starting from $1,255 from La Guardia Airport (LGA) to CGK.

    • Starting from $1,260 for a flight from LAX to KUL.

    • Starting at $1,281 from JFK to Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS)

    • Starting at $1,282 from STL to CGK and JFK to Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB).

    • Starting at $1,285 from IAH to Noi Bai International Airport (HAN).

    • Starting at $1,287 from JFK to HKT and Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK).

    • Starting from $1,292 for a flight from JFK to HAN.

Start by checking Google Flights for your origin and destination locations and fiddling with the dates until you locate a flight that is being offered at the bargain price.
For instance, depending on their preferred travel dates, New York City residents may want to think about flying from either EWR or JFK to Phuket, Thailand.

Although Google Flights listed the round-trip Singapore Airlines flight below at $1,229, that price is really for buying through a third-party booking service.
Although it costs more, we almost always advise booking directly with the airline for greater flexibility.

In order to book this flight, you would go to the Singapore Airlines website.
For each leg of the journey, you'll then see a choice of flight alternatives; however, if you want to take advantage of this offer, be sure to look for the flight that is the least expensive (which is indicated by an orange triangle in the upper left-hand corner).
Choose the $1,228.07 flight with the cheapest total cost for travel between April 18 and April 26.

There will probably be at least one layover on the flights covered by this agreement, and flights from JFK and EWR to HKT will include a stop in Singapore Changi Airport (SIN).
Your longest segment (EWR-SIN) on these Singapore Airlines flights will be in premium economy, but your regional segments (SIN-HKT, HKT-SIN) will be in economy because the airline doesn't provide premium economy seats on those routes.

Make sure to choose a flight that only makes one stop when scheduling your return trip to New York in order to keep your total cost the same, unless you choose to spend more for an additional but shorter layover that would allow you to arrive home sooner, providing there were no delays.
You should book the flight below on April 25 in order to keep the total cost at $1,228.

The long-haul flight from SIN to JFK will be in premium economy; this includes two free checked bags, advance seat selection, priority boarding, reclining seats, and wider seats, among other features. Your flight from HKT to SIN will be in economy, similar to your outbound flight, while the flight from SIN to JFK will be in economy.
Singapore Airlines offers a $100 change fee for premium economy flights, but after the first 24 hours after booking, there is no refund.

With a three-hour layover on the way there, you wouldn't have enough time to leave the airport if you had deliberately booked this trip, but the 13-hour delay on the way back offers a fantastic opportunity to get out and enjoy Singapore.
Keep this in mind if you ever encounter a flight with an extended layover.

Make sure to seek for the additional itineraries that are part of this offer, such as the ones from New York City to Hanoi, Vietnam, and both Cambodia for $1,300, Los Angeles to Singapore for $1,200, Houston or Los Angeles to Hanoi for between $1,250 and $1,300, and others.

Enhance your purchase

The Platinum Card® from American Express (5 points per dollar on flights booked directly with the airline or through American Express Travel, on up to $500,000 on these transactions per calendar year) or the Citi Prestige® Card are two credit cards that offer extra points when you book this deal (5 points per dollar on airfare).
Otherwise, take into account the American Express® Gold Card (3 points per dollar on ticket when booked directly with the airline or through Amex Travel), Citi Premier® Card, Chase Sapphire Reserve, or the Citi Sapphire Preferred Card (all of which offer 3 points per dollar on airfare) (2 points per dollar on travel).

In conclusion

There is no better moment to finally purchase your ticket than when you can save money on a higher fare class, as you can with this offer, if you're like me and Southeast Asia has been on your bucket list for a while.
I seize any chance to book premium economy tickets at a discount, especially for lengthy travels.

We don't anticipate these flights to remain available long, so be sure to book this deal right now.
