Winter Park Express ski train is returning, and one-way tickets start at $34

Amtrak's Winter Express train, which runs every weekend and travels 64 miles from Denver to the Winter Park Resort while ski season is in full force, is returning.
starting at just $34 one-way.


From January 13 through March 26, the Winter Express train will run on every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
It will leave Denver Union Station at 7 in the morning and get to Winter Park around 9 in the morning.
At 4:30 p.m., the train departs from Winter Park Resort and reaches Denver at 6:40 p.m.

How to book 

Use the Amtrak app or the website to reserve your seat on the Winter Express.
Parties of nine to fourteen persons can make arrangements for a group dinner by calling 800-872-7245.
For reservations, groups of 15 or more must fill out an online form.


Adult one-way prices begin at $34.
Younger passengers (between the ages of 2 and 12) can purchase one-way tickets for $17.
Prices are determined by availability.
For instance, the only prices offered for the 20–21st of January are $54 each way or $108 overall. 


Amtrak Guest Rewards points cannot be used to reserve this route. 


Each tourist is permitted to bring two personal items (less than 25 pounds each, no larger than 14 by 11 by 7 inches), two carry-on items (less than 50 pounds, no larger than 28 by 22 by 14 inches), and two checked bags in addition to any ski or snowboard equipment (weighing less than 50 pounds and measuring up to 75 inches in total). 


Additional information 

Expect wide, reclining coach seats with extra legroom, no middle seat, power outlets, and large windows on board so you can take in the surrounding scenery, including the Rocky Mountains.
The bi-level Sightseer Lounge, which has chairs and floor-to-ceiling windows, is upstairs and offers the greatest view.
There is a regular Amtrak cafe downstairs that serves food and beverages.


You can use the Amtrak California Zephyr on a weekday if you wish to get to Winter Park Resort.
This daily route travels through Denver and Fraser, Colorado, connecting Chicago with the San Francisco Bay Area.
After arriving in Colorado, you'll join a shuttle to travel the final 8 miles to the resort.
To reserve the shuttle in this instance, be sure to search for station code WPS.


Winter Park Resort's lift hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays and 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends for the 2022–2023 season.
A full day on the slopes is ensured by taking the train.
