12 more customer-friendly Airbus A220s will be added by Delta Air Lines.

NEWS - 19-01-2023

One of the most comfortable jets in the sky is receiving more support from Delta Air Lines.

On Wednesday, the Atlanta-based airline said that it would add 12 more Airbus A220-300 aircraft to its order book by converting its options with the Toulouse, France-based manufacturer into firm orders for an undisclosed sum.
Delivery of these more aircraft is planned for 2026 and 2027.

With the addition of 12 A220s, Delta has now placed 119 firm A220 orders for a total of 119 aircraft, divided between the two types as follows.

   Airbus A220-100   Airbus A220-300
  On order    0   60
Already in the fleet    45   14

The Bombardier C-Series was the original name of the Airbus A220 when it made its debut in 2004. However, after Airbus acquired a large portion of the C Series program in October 2017, the A220 was later rebranded as the Airbus A220 in 2018.

As the first U.S. carrier to fly the aircraft type, Delta received its first Airbus A220-100 in October 2018.
During the worst of the epidemic in November 2020, the carrier upgraded its fleet by adding the bigger -300 type.

Delta is currently the biggest A220 operator in the world.
The airline's vice president of fleet, Kristen Bojko, said in a statement that the additional 12 A220 planes "will help power our increasingly lean fleet while also providing our customers with the elevated in-flight experience they've come to expect from Delta."

The other American airlines to fly the Airbus A220 in addition to Delta are Breeze Airways and JetBlue Airways.
Additionally, Air Canada operates the jet for cross-border flights to and from the United States.

Airlines have found the A220 to be fairly well-liked.
The aircraft is the ideal size compromise between an enormous regional jet and a little Airbus A319 because it was designed specifically for the 100-150 seat market.
The jet has cutting-edge aerodynamics, a 25% increase in fuel efficiency, and a 25% decrease in carbon dioxide emissions.

The A220 is a favorite among airlines, but it's also well-liked by passengers.
The Delta variant has a two-class layout with first class and economy.
The 130 seats aboard Delta's A220-300 are distributed among 12 first-class recliners, 30 Comfort+ seats with increased legroom, and 88 economy seats.

Although Delta's current A220 aircraft are equipped with its older first-class recliners, it's feasible that the carrier may update these cabins with its new, private recliners, which made their debut on the Airbus A321neo last year.

The single-aisle jet's economy cabin, however, only has one middle seat in each row.
Families and couples like the 2-3 configuration because it gives each type of traveler a chosen seat.
Additionally, the likelihood that you will need to gate-check your rollaboard bags is reduced with full-size overhead bins.
