Breeze adds 2 new Long Island routes as part of its expansion in metro New York City.

NEWS - 19-04-2023

The map of Breeze is expanding with new nonstop routes.

New nonstop services to Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) in North Carolina and Portland International Jetport (PWM) in Maine will be added by Breeze at New York's Islip Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP), according to the upstart budget carrier's most recent plans.

Both June 29 and June 28 see the beginning of service to Portland and RDU, respectively. While flights to Raleigh-Durham run all year round, flights from New York-Islip to Portland will only operate during the summer months.

From New York-Islip to Raleigh-Durham, one-way tickets cost $59; from Portland, they cost $49.

The routes support Breeze's expansion in each of the three cities. The airline will now provide nonstop flights from Islip to six seasonal and year-round locations thanks to the two additional routes that were announced on Tuesday. Breeze will offer nonstop service to nine different places from RDU.

According to Michael Landugth, President and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority, "The route to New York-Islip adds a new nonstop destination at RDU and gives travelers more choices when visiting our most-frequented metro area."

Islip will become the carrier's fifth destination from PWM, and it was already confirmed before Breeze began operating flights from the airport. The first Breeze flights from PWM will take off in the middle of May when the airline starts offering service to Tampa and Charleston, South Carolina. In June, two additional routes opened for business before the Islip route.

Paul Bradbury, the airport director at PWM, said in a statement that he was "excited to see Breeze Airways continue to invest and expand in the Portland, Maine market." "[Tuesday's] announcement of a fifth destination to New York Islip before our first flights next month is brilliant!"

Breeze was initially introduced in 2021 by JetBlue, WestJet, and Azul founder David Neeleman. The low-cost airline's point-to-point business model adds nonstop services on flights that passengers would ordinarily take to connect.

Southwest Airlines and Frontier Airlines currently offer service to New York Islip, which is located around 60 miles from New York City. American Airlines discontinued service to New York Islip in 2022 as a result of the regional pilot shortage that has plagued the aviation industry since the end of the epidemic.
