Deal alert: flights to Puerto Rico for $250 or less in the late summer and fall.

NEWS - 27-06-2022

Here is a choice for travelers wishing to schedule one more vacation before the end of the summer or make plans for a trip that will unquestionably be needed in the fall!
You can find some very fantastic prices on flights to Puerto Rico if you're ready to go right after the prime summer tourism season unofficially ends.
You may find flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico for $250 and under starting around Labor Day weekend and continuing well into the fall. San Juan is a highly-liked location for its resorts and beaches, among other things.

We'll go over the expenses you'll incur if you choose one of Spirit's lower fares if you haven't previously traveled on an ultra-low-cost carrier.
Although you might need to hunt a little harder to discover them, there are also some offers on the legacy carriers.

This might be something to think about if you've been putting off booking flights for the summer because the prices haven't been right or if you're searching for a reason to visit the Caribbean.

The first company to mention the low prices to San Juan, Puerto Rico, was Scott's Cheap Flights.
Memberships on the site start at $49 for economy deals and go up to $149 for a premium membership that will notify you of the best first- and business-class fares.

Basics of Deals

American, Delta, United, and Spirit Airlines

Routes from SJU to EWR, BWI, ORD, ATL, MIA, and other eastern U.S. cities

September through October 2022

To make a reservation, contact the airline directly or use Google Flights.

The vast majority of the bargains we discovered during the late summer and fall were on low-cost airline Spirit Airlines, and they are rather common.
There's a strong chance you can get a roundtrip flight to San Juan for $250 or less if you reside in the eastern United States and Spirit services your local airport.

With any airline, but especially low-cost carriers, one thing you should always keep in mind is what the fees will be. The fare is really only a small portion of the overall cost of your trip.

For instance, I chose a roundtrip cost of $163 in Spirit's most affordable fare class when I went to the airline's website to book a journey from Newark/Liberty International Airport (EWR) to San Juan (SJU).
However, neither a checked bag nor a full-sized carry-on are included in my ticket.

You're in luck if you want to travel light and only plan to spend the weekend in Puerto Rico with a little rucksack that fits under the seat.
For this travel, you will need to pay an additional $59 each way, or $118 round trip, if you want to bring a full-sized carry-on bag.
With that extra, you'll also get a checked bag, the option to choose your seat, and early boarding.

You don't want to take a low-cost flight, do you?
You might be able to find a comparable offer on one of the legacy airlines if you can be flexible with your trip dates.

Listed below are a handful of the routes and costs we discovered:

United Newark (EWR) to San Juan (SJU) for $260 on JetBlue Baltimore/Washington (BWI) to San Juan (SJU) for $253 on Spirit Boston (BOS) to San Juan (SJU) for $239 base fare on Spirit Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to San Juan (SJU) for $176 base fare on Spirit Miami (MIA) to San Juan (SJU) for $118 base fare on Spirit

We'll begin by looking at one of the Spirit's routes.
It takes Spirit just around two and a half hours to get from Miami International Airport (MIA) to San Juan (SJU) following Labor Day weekend.
According to Google Flights, the cost of the travel (without selecting a seat) would be $196 if you checked a bag for the roundtrip for this particular route.

While there are many Spirit possibilities departing from the New York region, I also discovered a September JetBlue option departing from Newark for $260 roundtrip.
On the way home, you make a stop in Boston (BOS), but the ride down is nonstop.

Travelers from the Washington, D.C., area can fly on Delta Air Lines for $253 to get to and from Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport (BWI) in Puerto Rico.
The journey includes a stop at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York in both ways (JFK)

Loyal United Airlines customers can fly out of Chicago O'Hare International Airport for $259 round-trip (ORD).
The layover at Houston Intercontinental (IAH) on the departure flight is a little longer than I'd like - north of four hours, but not dreadful - with a much shorter stop at Washington Dulles International Airport on the return flight (IAD)

It is important to note that this offer does occur during some of the busiest parts of the Atlantic storm season, regardless of the airline or itinerary.
Because of this, it would be worthwhile to think about getting a flexible ticket or travel insurance simply to be safe in case mother nature doesn't cooperate with your vacation plans.

In conclusion

This offer provides a fantastic opportunity to escape to warm weather in Puerto Rico just as some parts of the United States are starting to experience some chillier fall temperatures, or to avoid the busiest summer travel periods by booking a trip just after peak travel times in early to mid-September.
