Do you enjoy admiring the various plane liveries from the airport window?
Keep a watch out for Emirates' new style, then.

The airline, which serves as the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, has unveiled an updated livery. A variety of changes have been made to a design that was last modified approximately 25 years ago.

The UAE flag's tailfin has a 3D effect incorporated to give it a "blown in the wind" impression in the new design. Wingtips painted red with a dazzling white Emirates emblem inscribed in Arabic calligraphy.

On the belly of the aircraft, the well-known golden Emirates emblem is still present but has grown (32.5 percent, to be precise). Also, it is bolder. According to the Emirates website, the smaller writing beneath in the former livery of the aircraft has been removed.

As early as March 17, if you're in the proper area, you can see the new design in the air or on the ground. An A6-EOE (Airbus A380) is the first aircraft to undergo a makeover, and it flies as flight EK51 from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Munich International Airport (MUC).

Since 1999, Emirates hasn't changed its livery until now.
In 1985, the airline and the initial appearance were both introduced.
The British design company Negus & Negus, best renowned for its iconic work with British Airlines, was responsible for its creation.

By the end of 2023, Emirates claims it will replace 24 aircraft with the new livery, with the remainder of the fleet to follow. The new design will be present on every new aircraft starting with the first Airbus A350, which is scheduled to launch in August 2024.

According to Emirates President Sir Tim Clark, aircraft liveries are the most immediately recognizable brand real estate for any airline. "It's a physical expression of our distinct identity, something we wear with pride and display in every city we visit on a global basis. We're updating our livery to keep it contemporary without sacrificing the essential components of our identity, including the Arabic calligraphy and the UAE flag on our tailfin.
