Soon, Singapore Airlines passengers will be allowed to use the internet at no extra fee.
The airline intends to provide passengers with free in-flight WiFi on all of its network's flights as of July 1.
As more international airlines seek to increase their free Wi-Fi offers, Singapore made this move.
When Singapore's free Wi-Fi is operational, it will become one of the few airlines that offer it to passengers in every cabin class. In the United States, JetBlue has long provided free Wi-Fi to all customers. This year, Delta joined the wave and made Wi-Fi available to everyone flying on domestic flights.
Perhaps there will be more. Free Starlink Wi-Fi on transpacific itineraries will be available starting in April 2022, according to Hawaiian Airlines. Additionally, Delta announced in March that it would add free Wi-Fi to all of its international flights by the end of 2024.
Passengers must submit their KrisFlyer account information to enjoy the free Wi-Fi in Singapore either while booking their flights or at check-in.
To utilize the free Wi-Fi, passengers who do not already have KrisFlyer accounts can register for one online or through Singapore's digital content site while flying.
High-speed in-flight Wi-Fi, according to Yeoh Phee Teik, senior vice president of customer experience at Singapore, is crucial to the travel experience.
"Giving [customers] access to free unlimited Wi-Fi is yet another milestone in SIA's continuous effort to offer an exceptional end-to-end travel experience," he stated in a statement.
