Frontier Airlines shuts down its customer service line.

NEWS - 29-11-2022

At Frontier Airlines, getting assistance could be difficult.

According to Frontier Airlines, the company closed its customer care phone line.
Calls from passengers regarding reservations or more critical problems like delays, cancellations, and misplaced bags will no longer be accepted.

Instead, the airline stated, customers who require assistance from Frontier would have to use an online chatbot, a live chat service that is available round-the-clock on the company's website, social media platforms, or WhatsApp.

According to CNN, the phone line was cut last week in preparation for the hectic Thanksgiving travel season.

An airline spokesman stated in a statement that "we have observed that most customers prefer communicating via digital channels," adding that passengers could still use those choices to "obtain the information they need as promptly and efficiently as possible."

Like many other ULCCs, Frontier has a reputation for lowering costs.
The discontinuation of customer service via the phone is an unusual move, though.
For the first time, it seems, a U.S. airline had completely shut down its customer support hotline.

However, Frontier wasn't the only airline that didn't offer phone-based customer assistance.
Since its 2021 launch, Breeze Airways, the new ULCC from JetBlue founder David Neeleman, has relied on the internet conversation.
There is no reservations or customer service phone number provided by the airline.

After Spirit's shareholders rejected a previous offer from Frontier, the shift at Frontier comes as competitor ULCC Spirit Airlines attempts to join with JetBlue.
If regulators accept the merger, JetBlue would take on Spirit's staff and fleet under its own name, thereby eliminating Spirit and replacing it with Frontier as the main ULCC in the United States.
