A brand-new airline intends to launch in North America this spring.
According to the news source Focus Taiwan, the Taiwanese airline Starlux Airlines is going to begin nonstop service on April 26 between Los Angeles and Taipei.
The first location outside of Asia on the Starlux network is in Los Angeles.
The airline already offers service to Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Macao, Japan, and the Philippines.
At first, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays are when Starlux intends to fly between Taipei and Los Angeles.
According to Focus Taiwan, the airline plans to boost the daily timetable for flights between the two cities in June.
The airline will operate all flights between Los Angeles and Taipei on an Airbus A350-900, and tickets for flights between Los Angeles and Taipei go on sale on February 14.
When StarLux placed its first major newsworthy order for 17 Airbus A350s in 2018, it was still a relatively unknown startup.
The airline positions itself as a premium carrier and offers entirely flat seats in its business-class seating arrangements.
According to Focus Taiwan, Starlux is also planning to begin service between Taipei and San Francisco later this year and may also add stops in the eastern United States.
