In less than two weeks, United will launch a brand-new Newark lounge.

NEWS - 16-06-2023

Airport lounges were a major perk that was lacking when the gleaming new Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) first opened in January.

Although the new $2.7 billion facility gave one of the nation's most despised airports a much-needed facelift, premium passengers had to wait a little longer for the opening of some new and improved clubs.

Thankfully, the wait will soon be over as United intends to launch its newest United Club location in Newark's Terminal A on June 28, according to an airline spokesperson.

The new club's specifics are still unknown, although it is anticipated to be "substantially larger" than the one that was previously located in the old, now-closed Terminal A.

In reality, I recently traveled through Newark's Terminal A and was pleased to discover that the new lounge was almost finished. After the temporary construction walls were taken down, the open-air club appeared to be extremely stylish.

The design appears to be similar to the "one-of-a-kind" area United opened last year close to Gate C123 in Newark's Terminal C, despite the difficulty in obtaining a close-up look.

New American Airlines Admirals Clubs, Delta Sky Clubs, and American Express Centurion Lounges will all be located in Terminal A in addition to the new United Club.

The Admirals Club and the Sky Club will share the south of the mezzanine level of the central rotunda, while the United Club will occupy the north side.

In a major makeover for the Admirals Club network, American has hinted that the new lounge will include its newest design elements emphasizing natural woods, earth tones, and open spaces.

While waiting for Delta to move into Terminal A, the Sky Club will open later this year. Other than its new location, the airline hasn't provided any information on the new Sky Club.

The Centurion Lounge is probably the most upscale lounge in Terminal A. The forthcoming Newark location will be one of the largest in the Centurion Lounge network thanks to Amex's recent 15-year lease on an 18,000-square-foot facility in the airport.

The new location will provide a wealth of premium amenities, which may enable it to compete with the network's greatest lounges.

A speakeasy-themed cocktail lounge, a piano lounge, a bar with a Jersey jazz theme, and an outdoor terrace with views of the airfield, the Port of Newark, New York, Newark Harbor, and the Manhattan skyline are just a few of the facilities that have been suggested. Additionally, Amex suggested adding health areas, workstations, numerous food buffets, and "world-class" restrooms.

Although the opening of the Centurion Lounge at Newark was initially anticipated for later this year, airport infrastructure projects are infamous for running behind schedule, so we might have to wait a little longer.

In any case, it's fantastic news that United's club will open in time for the long Fourth of July weekend. Before the opening, we will be present to give you a sneak peek tour.
