New menu items for first class and the main cabin are released by Alaska Airlines.

NEWS - 15-05-2023

There are now even more meal options available to passengers flying with Alaska Airlines.

To provide passengers with more alternatives for fresh food on board, the Seattle-based airline has added several new menu items to both its first-class and general cabins.

Alaska is offering five meal options for first-class passengers and tripling the number of preorder items offered for the main cabin. The carrier is also introducing a version of the traditional peanut butter and jelly sandwich prepared without peanuts; it will be made with toasted cashew and oat butter.

"We've worked hard to give our guests of all ages a wider selection of food, from traditional comfort food to more healthy options, all while representing the vibrant flavors of the West Coast," Todd Traynor-Corey, Alaska's managing director of guest products, said in a statement.

Along with the new menu items, Alaska also wants to bring back printed menus on its larger aircraft that fly coast-to-coast and to Hawaii, as well as to use glassware once more in first class on regional Embraer E175 flights.

Below are the new menu items.

First-class

    • Breakfast included a chicken sausage breakfast bowl, lemon blueberry pancakes, and a Beecher's mushroom omelet.

    • Lunch includes a caramelized onion Angus burger, an applewood bacon-topped wedge salad, and a Korean barbecue chicken sandwich.

    • Dinner included the likes of a chimichurri flat iron steak, herb-roasted chicken, lemon fennel manicotti, and noodles with ginger beef stir-fry. Beecher's famous macaroni and cheese will also be available on some flights, while a few aircraft leaving from the San Francisco Bay Area will include a pork carnitas tamale on the menu.

    • Pre-order vegan options include a spicy tofu wrap, a white bean chili with grilled polenta, and a harissa and chorizo frittata cooked with Just Egg, a plant-based substitute for eggs.

Main cabin

    • Breakfast sandwiches on bagels with smoked salmon and turkey, bacon, and tomatoes.

    • Lunch and dinner "Stand Banh Mi" and "Strawberry Fields for Chevre," two new salads created with Pacific Northwest salad chain Evergreens. Two additional wraps will also be made available, one featuring chicken and mango and the other a Mediterranean chicken shawarma.

    • For flights to and from Hawaii, Alaska will bring back its cheeseburger prepared with Tillamook cheese.

Additionally, Alaska announced that it would begin distributing Tire Amber Ale from New Belgium Brewing, which bills itself as the world's first carbon-neutral beer. Schilling Hard Cider and Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing Hazy IPA will also be added to the first-class preorder menu in July.
