Oman Air has joined the Oneworld alliance as a new member.

NEWS - 20-06-2022

In the next months, the Oneworld alliance will welcome a new member airline.

Oman Air, based in Muscat, announced on Monday that it will join a consortium of 13 airlines that have teamed up to provide passengers with a variety of perks.

The announcement was made at the alliance's annual summit, which is presently taking place in Doha, Qatar.

It should come as no surprise that Oman Air has joined Oneworld.
Last year, the airline announced its intention to join the alliance and even requested Qatar Airways' assistance in doing so.

Oman Air can now offer significant global connectivity through Oneworld partners such as American Airlines, British Airways, and Qantas.

Frequent fliers will be rewarded with reciprocal earning and redemption privileges in addition to increased connections with flights outside the airline's network.

Members of American Airlines' AAdvantage loyalty programme, for example, should soon be able to earn points on Oman Air flights.

Members should be able to use their miles on Oman Air trips as well.

The Air Canada Aeroplan programme has been the best option to redeem miles for Oman Air trips thus far.

Oman's membership in Oneworld is expected to be completed by 2024, and we'll update this post whenever a more precise timeframe is revealed.

Oman Air flies to over 50 locations, including important cities like London and Singapore, but no destinations in North America.
The airline has a fleet of roughly 50 planes, which includes the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Airbus A330, and Boeing 737.

The airline's long-haul business-class offering (Apex Suites) consistently receives great reviews, and certain Dreamliners even have a small first-class cabin.

Alaska Airlines and Royal Air Maroc have joined the Oneworld alliance in recent years, but the partnership has lost a significant member in South America, LATAM.
