Reserve award space for the entire family on Singapore Airlines' business class flight to Europe.

NEWS - 27-01-2023

Singapore Airlines' fifth-freedom flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Frankfurt Airport (FRA) has unleashed a deluge of business-class award seats.

There is now a lot of availability for business-class awards in the months of February, March, early May, late September, November, and December.
Four or more business-class seats are available on the majority of these dates.
View from the Wing was the first to report on this prize space.

On dates with business saver space, business-class award tickets on this flight cost 81,000 KrisFlyer miles, while advantage-saving space dates cost 87,500 KrisFlyer miles.
However, Singapore Airlines is offering Spontaneous Escapes promotional pricing on this trip if you book by January 31 and fly between February 1 and February 28.
As a result, one-way award rates are reduced by 30% to just 56,700 KrisFlyer miles.

What you need to know about this deal is as follows.

The deal

Airline: Singapore Airlines.
Route: JFK-FRA.
Cost: From 56,700 Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles plus $5.60 taxes and fees one-way in business class.
Dates: February, March, early May, late September, November, and December.
Pay taxes/fees with: The Platinum Card® from American Express (5 points per dollar on airfare booked directly with the airline, on up to $500,000 on these purchases per calendar year), Chase Sapphire Reserve (3 points per dollar on travel), or Chase Sapphire Preferred Card (2 points per dollar on travel) for travel protections on the award flight.

Earning the miles to book this award

Thankfully, it’s relatively easy to earn Singapore miles. You can transfer points or miles from American Express Membership Rewards, Capital One, Citi ThankYou, and Chase Ultimate Rewards to Singapore KrisFlyer at a 1:1 transfer ratio. While transfers from Capital One to KrisFlyer are generally instantaneous, transfers from Amex, Citi, and Chase may take up to 24 hours.

Thankfully, while your credit card points transfer, you can phone KrisFlyer to reserve award seats.
Your award seats will be secured as a result, so you won't have to be concerned about stock running out.
To reserve award seats, KrisFlyer typically charges 25 Singapore dollars (about $20) or 2,500 miles.

Unfortunately, despite being a Star Alliance member, Singapore Airlines doesn't make available most of its Star Alliance partners' long-haul business-class award space.
As a result, you won't be able to purchase these award tickets with other currencies, such as United MileagePlus miles.
However, Singapore Airlines and Air Canada Aeroplan have expanded their collaboration, so there may be award space available for select days.

Only sporadic Aeroplan reward space was discovered during our searches for KrisFlyer award dates.

Whether you book your flight through KrisFlyer or Aeroplan, pay award taxes and fees with a card that gives travel insurance and additional points on flights.
The Platinum Card from American Express, Chase Sapphire Reserve, and Chase Sapphire Preferred Card is a few cards that match the bill.

In conclusion

The soft product (i.e., service, facilities, and food) on Singapore Airlines' business class flights is still among the best in the sky, despite the airline's ten-year-old, deteriorating hard product.
In fact, after reviewing Singapore Airlines' business class on the A380 flight from Frankfurt to JFK last year, we concluded, "It doesn't get much better than this."
You have the opportunity to give it a try now with so many open prize slots.
