Singapore Airlines removes the Airbus A380 from JFK, along with its renowned Suites.

NEWS - 23-11-2022

One of the finest things in the air will soon no longer be available to tourists from the United States.

The fifth-freedom flight operated by Singapore Airlines between Frankfurt (FRA) and New York John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) will no longer use the airline's Airbus A380, the carrier announced on Tuesday.

Instead, a Boeing 777-300ER will be used for the JFK journey.
According to the airline, the equipment was altered to allow for greater A380 operations between Singapore and Australia.

While the equipment shift results in a decrease in capacity (Singapore's 777-300ER has 264 seats compared to the A380's 471), it also means that the airline's signature Suites product will no longer operate on any U.S. routes.

A unique cabin above first class, Singapore's Suites is only offered on the A380.
With a sliding door, a chair, and a separate standalone bed, the suite turns each passenger's seat into a private, unique cabin.
Additionally, the wall that separates the suites may be lowered, making the bed into a double for couples vacationing together.

On several of its aircraft, notably the 777-300ER that will begin service to JFK, Singapore also provides a "normal" first-class cabin.
The divider that partially separates those extra-wide seats from the aisle provides some seclusion, but there is no closing door.
First-class passengers who do not fly in suites continue to receive the same level of service and soft amenities, such as Singapore's "Book the Cook" feature, which enables premium cabin travelers to order their meals in advance.

On important routes from Singapore to locations in Australia, Asia, and Europe, the airline mainly uses the A380.
The JFK-Frankfurt route, which continues from Frankfurt to Singapore, uses the double-decker as well, though (SIN).

It was occasionally possible to fly the Suites for just 86,000 Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles and around $130 in taxes and fees, despite the fact that award availability on JFK-FRA can be sporadic and limited.

There is still time to experience Singapore's ultimate first-class goods outside of the United States because the modification is set to take effect on May 15, 2023.
