Southwest expands its itinerary past July 4 by announcing 3 new routes.

NEWS - 28-10-2022

Thursday saw the introduction of three new routes by Southwest Airlines, which also extended its booking period through July 10.

Although the additions announced today are mostly seasonal routes with just one flight per week, many eagerly await Southwest's schedule extension for improvements to the carrier's route map.

The new routes include some fascinating additions despite their low frequency, including two from Denver International Airport (DEN).

Beginning on April 15, Southwest will operate a seasonal Saturday-only nonstop service between Denver International Airport (DEN) and Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR).
It will be the longest regularly scheduled trip out of the South Carolina airport at 1,484 miles.
Although ultra-low-cost rival Frontier Airlines has already run the route, Southwest will be the only airline offering nonstop service between the cities.

Bellingham International Airport (BLI) in Washington state will become Southwest's second seasonal destination from Denver.
Passengers travel to the airport from metro Vancouver because it is only 50 miles from that city's commercial center, which is located just south of the U.S.-Canadian border.
The only other significant airlines with service at BLI are Alaska Airlines and Allegiant, while Southwest will be the only one with nonstop service to Denver.
Southwest already provides transportation from BLI to both Las Vegas and Oakland.

The final new route to be added to Thursday's itinerary is another another seasonal, seldom one:
Beginning on April 15, only on Saturdays until June 3, there will be nonstop service between Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Des Moines International Airport (DSM) in Iowa.

Below are the new routes' details.

Denver-Bellingham

Seasonal service starts on April 15; only on Saturdays.

Denver-Myrtle Beach

Seasonal service starts on June 4; only on Saturdays.

Orlando-Des Moines
